Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1 Chengdu Arrival
Meet your guide at Chengdu airport or train station and transfer to your downtown hotel. Afternoon and evening at leisure to explore Sichuan’s capital—perhaps sample spicy hot‑pot or stroll around Tianfu Square.
Day 2 Chengdu → Jiuzhaigou (B, L)
Morning visit to Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding: watch pandas of all ages and learn at the Panda Museum.
Transfer to Chengdu East Railway Station for the bullet train (1.5–2 hrs) to Huanglongjiuzhai Station.
Drive (1.5–2 hrs) to your Jiuzhaigou hotel; evening free to rest and acclimate.
Day 3 Jiuzhaigou Valley (B)
Full‑day exploration of Jiuzhaigou’s scenic zones by hop‑on/hop‑off bus: Nuorilang Waterfall, Five‑Color Pond, Panda Lake, Pearl Shoal, Shuzheng Valley highlights, and more.
Return to hotel for overnight.
Day 4 Jiuzhaigou → Chengdu via Huanglong (B)
Morning at Huanglong National Park: cable car to Five‑Color Ponds (3,556 m), then walk past Zhengyan Pool, Lotus Waterfall, and other travertine formations.
High‑speed train back to Chengdu; overnight in Chengdu.
Day 5 Chengdu → Chongqing (B, L)
Visit Wenshu Monastery and Wenshu Fang Market; then People’s Park tea‑house culture and Jinli Ancient Street.
Transfer to railway station for bullet train (1–2 hrs) to Chongqing; evening at leisure in downtown Chongqing.
Day 6 Chongqing & Yangtze Cruise Embarkation (B, L)
Morning tour: Three Gorges Museum, People’s Assembly Hall, Liziba monorail station, and Hongya Cave.
Board your 5‑star Yangtze cruise at Chaotianmen Dock (18:00–21:00); ship sails at 21:00.
Day 7 Yangtze River Cruise (B, L, D)
Morning tai chi or coffee on deck.
Shore excursion to Fengdu Ghost City with English guide.
Evening Captain’s Welcome Party and onboard entertainment.
Day 8 Yangtze River Cruise (B, L, D)
Sail through Qutang, Wu & Xiling Gorges.

I was captivated by the pristine beauty of this destination. Crystal‑clear waters, lush forests, and graceful waterfalls greeted me at every turn. The vibrant lakes shimmered in the spring sunshine, creating scenes straight out of a dream. Yes, there’s plenty of walking on uneven trails—but each trek rewarded me with views well worth the effort.
Travel tip: Logistics require planning—train tickets sell out quickly in peak season, so book early. I arrived the night before and set out at dawn to enjoy the park before the crowds arrived.
If you have extra days in Chengdu, don’t miss this gem. Its springtime splendor and tranquil atmosphere make it an unforgettable side trip.
